Swim Meet FAQ

Why isn’t my shrimper in the meet?

  • Shrimpers may only have assistance for the first two swim meets. After the second meet, they must be able to swim the length of the pool on their own.

What do I need to bring to a swim meet?

  • Swimmers: your swim bag with- BWE team suit and BWE team cap, sweatshirt/sweatshirt, towels, water, & snacks
  • Parents: food & snacks for your families, money for on-site purchases, additional towels, clothing, etc...Lawn/beach chairs as desired for any additional seating

Who do I need to tell if my child misses a meet?

  • Please mark on the team calendar if your swimmer CAN NOT attend a meet via your Swimtopia account. Please do this no later than a week before the scheduled meet.
    • Click the green MEET ENTRY tab, and then click the green Edit tab under your athletes' names.
    • For each of your athletes, select an option from the drop down list next to their names
      • Not Attending (MUST DO)
    • Click Save to record your choices.

How do I know when it's my child's turn to swim in a meet?

  • Heat Sheets (the meet outline: events by age/gender) provide a detailed list of participants within each event. Heat Sheets, and information on how to read them, can be found on the Heat Sheet tab.
  • During the meet an announcer calls the current event and heat before the race starts.

Why is my swimmer in only 2 events?

  • Swimmers can only participate in an event during which they can swim the required distance in the assigned stroke correctly.
  • Please sign up for stroke clinics or swim lessons for more practice to help expand the number of strokes your swimmer has mastered.

How can I find out my child’s time after the meet?

  • Times will be posted in alphabetical order by last name on the bulletin board the day after the swim meet.

Why didn’t my child receive a ribbon?

  • The goal is for ribbons to distributed the next morning after swim practice. Swimmers will be notified if there is a delay.
  • Remember: Only 1st -8th place only in each event, not heat.

How many meets does my swimmer need to swim in order to be in the ALL STAR meet?

  • Per SPSL rules, swimmers MUST swim 3 meets to quality for ALL STARS.
